Key Projects

University of Canterbury - Rehua
Rehua is a complete transformation of UC's former Commerce building into a new purpose-built space for contemporary teaching and learning. David joined the project management team towards completion to support onsite delivery and project administration. Under his watchful eye, documentation was submitted to the Council in order to achieve Code of Compliance prior to practical completion. Now complete with leading-edge facilities, Rehua is set to become a vibrant student-centred hub of teaching and innovation.

Lyttelton Port Company - Various
David is part of the team managing the 2020 Terminal Expansion, a project needed to ensure the Port has the infrastructure required to meet growing shipping demands. He is also involved in upgrades to Cashin Quay, including roading repairs and new rail siding. Working in a live environment, stakeholder engagement is key to both projects. David is focussed on providing timely communication and careful project staging in order to ensure minimal disruption to Port users.

Benmore Final Configuration Project
David was responsible for the procurement and installation of three 225MVa high voltage transformers, needed to connect six generators to the national grid. David took over the project midway through, when client and lead contractor relations were strained. Using his communication and relationship skills, David was able to rebuild trust between the two parties, aligning their objectives so that the project could be completed to the rigourous standard demanded by the power generation industry.

Manapouri Lake Control Structure Repair Project
David managed this highly complex and innovative repair project from tendering for site works through to successful completion. Challenges included working with diverse stakeholders and environmental conditions that resulted in a prolonged site works period that stretched both client and contractor management teams. Amongst David's myriad of tasks he successfully negotiated a contract alteration to allow a change in risk profile that better suited both parties and ultimately prevented the project from failing.

Christchurch International Airport Limited - Airport Terminal Project Site Enabling Works
David was responsible for coordinating a multi-discipline team of design engineers to meet the client's specifications and requirements. By providing onsite management and control of the main civil contractor, David was able to ensure operations at the airport were maintained whilst still progressing the enabling works. Managing relationships and multiple workstreams, David was instrumental in delivering the Terminal project in keeping with the proposed schedule.
