University of Canterbury

Relationship since 2010

The University of Canterbury is ranked in the top 200 universities in the world.  With a strong reputation for producing highly skilled students, the University's reputation for exceptional research and academic quality is well established across New Zealand.

The University is one of the largest employers in Christchurch and through its educational delivery and aligned associations with business and industry is a significant contributor to the Canterbury economy.

The Project Office team started working with the University soon after the September 2010 earthquake when it became apparent that a number of the University's facilities at the Ilam campus had been damaged.  Work has involved coordinating the assessment of 250 buildings including 40 significant multi-storey structures, coordinating the design and construction of temporary learning and admin spaces to support the University as it works through the repair and upgrade work planned, coordinating associated services and managing the decanting and relocation of services across the campus.

Working closely with insurers and the University's senior management, The Project Office is managing both repair and betterment works where it is efficient to do so.
